Position Purpose:
The MC&I Mechanician is responsible for maintenance, fault-finding and repair of all instrumentation, metering/measurement,
and control equipment in accordance with Transnet Pipelines policies and procedures and to International Standards, in
classified hazardous locations and potentially explosive atmospheres to ensure safe, efficient and effective custody transfer
and transportation of petroleum products. The MC&I Mechanician is also responsible for minor installation of MC&I
equipment.
Position outputs:
• Routine maintenance-ensuring optimal availability of equipment• Fault finding-to perform effective repair to the pipeline infrastructure
• Administration-SAPPM-record information, obtain information regarding maintenance
• Small projects and minor installations-to standard and according to work instruction
• Maintenance contract-supervise and manage process to ensure conformance to requirement and standards

Qualifications & Experience:
•Successfully completed apprenticeship (3 years) in process Instrumentation and 3 years on the job experience in an
instrumentation environment OR a formal technical qualification (minimum N3 at a TVET) in process instrumentation with
related training and 4 years on the job experience in an instrumentation environment and relevant training in the following
fields.
