We have an exciting position for an Electrician who will oversee maintenance operations on equipment and machinery and to provide guidance and support to Artisans in respect of quality, safety and problem solving toward reaching production and productivity targets.

Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
As an Electrician at our Sishen Mine, you are expected maintain and test all equipment / machinery to ensure functionality, safety, reliability and availability to complete jobs within the specified timeframe and budgetary limit.
Some of the other responsibilities include:
- Maintenance of efficiency, which includes installations, commissioning of equipment is maintained as specified in the strategy.
- Providing advice in all maintenance related matters and ad hoc jobs to all concerned parties in a pro-active manner aligned with best practices and within agreed upon timeframes to avoid possible problems and uplift competence base.
- Providing assistance according to own level / area of competence and in accordance with company policies to the Supervisor and co-workers when instructed or during the absence of the responsible person, to ensure achievement of functional objectives.
- Ensuring information provided is accurate and understandable, provide regular feedback and monitor progress to successfully develop and equip learners / team members with the necessary competencies.
- Ensuring Learners under your supervision adhere to all relevant safety standards and procedures.
This role is in the Asset Strategy and Reliability Plant and CWS department at a J4 level reporting to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical.
- N2 Certificate.
- Trade Certificate as an Artisan (Electrician).
- Valid Drivers Licence.
- MV Certificate (advantageous).
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience as an Artisan.
- Fault finding experience.
- Experience with crushers, reclaimers, loaders and plant equipment.
- Experience in medium voltage, MV and HT is advantageous.
