PURPOSE:
• To install, repair, wire, and maintain all electrical components found in a variety of vehicles.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
• N3: Engineering Relevant (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Auto Electrician MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years Relevant job-specific experience (Essential/Minimum) Operational
REQUIREMENTS:
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Pub Driv Lic:Code B (Recommended/Desirable)
• Appointment in terms of OHSA & MHSA (Recommended/Desirable)
• Medium Voltage Switching (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
• Competence: On the Job MQA Modules Asses (Essential/Minimum)
Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Operations and Control
• Inspect, diagnose and repair assets, equipment and surrounding infrastructure
• Perform condition monitoring, testing, fault finding and problem solving
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Assume responsibility for maintenance and new installations and maintain all records accordingly
• Support maintenance jobs of support personnel
• Perform maintenance during breakdowns and shutdowns
Inspection and Control
• Inspect all tools, equipment and instruments prior to use
• Inspect all vehicles, machines and mechanical equipment to identify defects
• Report defects immediately
• Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects
• Perform standby and fire duties as and when required
Material/Resource Planning and Control
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally
• Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area
• Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman
• Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides and trainees to improve their skills
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
• Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations, rectify and report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
Technical Support
• Install, diagnose, repair, wire, and maintain all electrical components and related software found in a variety of vehicles
• Measure circuits for defects, using instruments as remedy faults by performing tasks such as replacing defective burnt-out elements, fuses and contacts, repairing and replacing switches and tightening loose connections removing shorted circuits
• Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure
