Job Description:
As a Fitter, you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include:
Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
Ensure Learners under your supervision adhere to all relevant safety standards & procedures .
Maintain and test all equipment / machinery to ensure functionality, safety, reliability and availability to complete jobs within the specified time frame and budgetary limits.
Ensure effective maintenance of plant equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal utilization and availability toward maximizing production and throughput schedules.
Identify and report defects, equipment failures and time required to do repairs to the Supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution.
Ensure work is executed as per Operating Model standards & procedures
Ensure job cards are completed in full and returned back on time
Ensure all tool boxes and tools are kept in good condition
Ensure proper communication and handover on outstanding tasks between shifts and day shift teams
Support relevant personnel by ensuring that RCA, as well as the necessary plant and equipment maintenance preparations and maintenance tasks are done in accordance with SMP (Standard Maintenance Practice), to contribute to the achievement of improving work practices and operational targets.
Provide assistance according to own level / area of competence and in accordance with company policies to the Supervisor and co-workers when instructed or during the absence of the responsible person, to ensure achievement of functional objectives.
Inspect rigging equipment before lifting, moving and placing heavy components to be repaired / manufactured with the overhead crane and ensure components are slung within safety standards and the set lifting capacity of the equipment to prevent possible damage and injury.
Secure all equipment as per specifications and ensure that safety limits are not exceeded to prevent damage or breakage.
Identify and utilize on-the-job learning opportunities to achieve the required competency levels as stipulated in training modules, according to budget and timeframe requirements.
Ensure information provided is accurate and understandable, provide regular feedback and monitor progress to successfully develop and equip learners / team members with the necessary competencies.
This role is in the DMS Plant Department on a Band J4.2 reporting to the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
N2
Qualified as an Artisan-Trade (Fitter)
Code 08 Drivers Licence
Experience:
2-3 Years experience as an Artisan
