Job Description
RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized and Technically-orientated Maintenance Assistant within the baking business unit.
The suitable candidate will be required is to conduct planned and preventative maintenance on machinery as well as repair machine breakdowns. Electrical and Mechanical maintenance and repair of Bakery related machinery and equipment
This role will be based in Durban and reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Grade 12
Experience
Minimum 2-3 year’s practical experience as a maintenance assistant, preferably in a production
environment
Bakery background advantageous
Mechanical or Electrical experience
Skills
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in
English.
Good numeracy
Able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified
procedures
Duties & Responsibilities
• Administrative Duties
• Practice health and safety and food safety procedures at all times
• Follow maintenance technician instructions, ensuring planned and preventative maintenance
schedules are completed on time
• Report to breakdowns immediately with maintenance technician and work quickly and safely to help
repair the machine
• Assist with jobs pertaining to building and facility maintenance
• Assist with special projects
• Ensure toolbox is fully stocked and kept in a clean, hygienic state
• Ensure maintenance workshop is clean and tidy at all times with all items in their correct place

Administrative Duties
• Complete tasks as per the job card issued
• Once job is complete, obtain sign off from Technician on job card
Food Safety
• Adhere to food safety guidelines as per company policies and procedures.
• Abide by all Good Manufacturing Practices requirements as set out by the employer.
• Ensure all work areas are cleaned and free from contaminants after maintenance work has been
done
