Job Purpose
To perform general mechanical maintenance and repairs to small plant and agriculture/ horticulture
equipment of the Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Department.
Key Responsibility Areas
• Ensures that all machinery, tools, stores and materials required for the daily tasks are
provided/collected and are in good working order and returning same to secure storage at
the end of each shift.
• Undertakes the repairs and maintenance of small plant and equipment.
• Reports any disorder or damage and suspected negligence/abuse and complex issues.
• Assists with the receiving, recording and issuing of items being referred to and collected
from workshop, attaching and detaching of agricultural equipment.
• Practices good housekeeping, ensuring a clean and orderly working environment, accounting
for and securing tools and equipment.
• Assists members of the general public by applying the principles of Batho Pele.
• Addresses minor complaints and queries, referring complex issues to supervisor.

Essential Requirements
• Grade 10 or NTC 2.
• 1 Year relevant experience
Preferred Requirements
• Trade Tested Artisan in Petrol or Diesel or Small Plant Equipment.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code EC).
• 2 Years relevant experience.
