Job Purpose
The Artisan Assistant – supports the Artisan in performing installation, repair, and maintenance tasks within the organization.
Key Performance Areas:
- Assist the Artisan in daily operations and tasks and or work independently performing routing tasks below artisan level.
- Support in performing installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Help in conducting inspections and tests of trade systems.
- Aid in diagnosing and resolving faults and issues.
- Participate in planning and executing tasks.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
- Return completed Job Cards to Planning Office promptly, and repair work performed.
- Timeous return of completed Job Cards to Planning Office for capturing and recoveries.
- Adhere to safety protocols and participate in safety training and meetings.
- Perform regular checks and maintenance on safety equipment.
- Contribute to a culture of safety within the team.
- Conduct BBS observations
- Support in delivering high-quality maintenance services.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers to address maintenance issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of job cards.
- Assist in minimizing rework and defects
- Assist in managing inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Report any discrepancies or needs for replacement of tools and equipment.
- Support cost-effective practices in maintenance tasks
- Support training and mentoring of junior artisan assistants.
- Maintain a positive working environment and foster teamwork.
- Participate in Green Area Meetings (Toolbox Talks) to review safety and work practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12
- Driver’s License (Compulsory)
