PURPOSE OF THE JOB: This position works under direct supervision of the Artisan and assists with the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment within the business unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4) is essential.
- Certified competent as an Engineering/Artisan Assistant.
- Passed basic engineering skills/modules.
- 3 years’ experience in a mining environment is advantageous.
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles a workplace
- Understand fundamentals of electricity
- Demonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspect associated with the Job
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Checks availability and utilisation of PPE, specialized tools and equipment.
- Constantly examines and responds to environmental conditions.
- Reports and removes himself/herself from or rectifies identified hazards.
- Performs routine maintenance on specified equipment and installations while working under direct supervision.
- Ensures high level of housekeeping at installation sites.
- Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope
- and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions
- where required.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free
- and recommends remedial action where necessary
