MECHANICAL FITTER AT TWINSAVER

ABOUT THE POSITION

MAIN PURPOSE:

To support the production process with adequate levels of availability, penetrability (sustained production rates), and reliability relating to the mechanical aspect of the production and all ancillary equipment. To accomplish this, it is necessary to make sure that all engineering-related breakdowns, issues, and opportunities related to all equipment in the converting plant are attended to as quickly, effectively, and safely as possible. must guarantee that all mechanical installations and equipment abide by the OHS Act and any relevant rules.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that all maintenance activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed to set quality standards without rework or abnormal overtime
• Carry out plant inspections
• Fill out all job cards and ensure that all other maintenance procedures are followed
• Take part in root cause analysis and suggest ways of improving equipment and processes in the department
• Identify repetitive breakdown and causes
• Attend daily morning maintenance meetings
• Manage health and safety and ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant and workshop
• Ensure all maintenance procedures are adhered to

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum N6 / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with Trade Test
• Welding qualification, overhead Crane certificates, SHE certificates will be an advantage
• Drivers Licence
• Ensure machine availability
• Quick response to breakdowns as specified in the policy
• Ensure availability of spares and adhere to spares requisition procedures
• Identify critical mechanical spares
• Manufacturing of spares ( turning and welding, understanding of manually operated lathe machine)
• Ensure all machine quality standards are met
• Minimize disruption to manufacturing by ensuring equipment’s are in sound mechanical condition.
• Training and coaching of operators on how to solve easy mechanical problems on the machinery tominimize downtime
• Adhere to SHER
• Continuous Improvement ( Modifications to improve machine performance as and when required)
• Ability to effectively fulfil standby duties.
