Our Company
Founded in 1820 with a rich history spanning 200 years, Premier has enjoyed an exciting new journey over the past few years following Brait acquiring a majority shareholding and pursuing a strategy to broaden our footprint in the FMCG market. In March 2021, Kobus Gertenbach was appointed as CEO.
In the past ten years, we have made facility investments and acquisitions to broaden our portfolio from a traditional milling and bakery business into sugar confectionery (Super C, Mister Sweet, and Manhattan), home & personal care (Lil-lets, Dove Cottons, and Vulco), and bakery by acquiring bakeries in the Eastern Cape. We have added bakery, milling, and beverage operations to our portfolio in eSwatini, as well as milling, biscuits, animal feeds, and pasta businesses in Mozambique, thanks to our acquisition strategy throughout the rest of Africa.
With approximately 8 100 workers working across multiple operations, the company generates an annual revenue of R14.5 billion. A wide variety of sugar confectionery goods, feminine hygiene items, biscuits, animal feeds, pasta, and mageu are produced by Premier’s 13 bakeries, 7 wheat mills, 3 maize mills, and manufacturing facilities spread around the region. 25 distribution depots located in South Africa, eSwatini, Mozambique, and Lesotho are used to supply these goods to our clients. In addition, Premier maintains a Lil-lets sales office in the UK that exports to the EU’s Middle Eastern, Irish, and other markets.
Our products and people make a difference in the everyday lives of our consumers to fulfil our commitment of Growing Toget
