Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

As a Boilermaker your responsibilities will include the following:

• Ensuring effective maintenance of plant equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal utilization and availability toward maximizing production and throughput schedules.

• Identifying and report defects, equipment failures and time required to do repairs to the Supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution.

• Supporting plant personnel by ensuring that the necessary plant and equipment maintenance preparations and maintenance tasks are done in accordance with SMP (Standard Maintenance Practice) to contribute to the achievement of improving work practices and operational targets.

• Ensuring installations, commissioning of infrastructure and post-installation work testing for functionality is executed in accordance with specifications to meet deadlines and budget requirements.

• Continuously monitor maintenance progress and related preparation activities against planned schedules to meet operational targets, minimize downtime, enable timely reporting and enhance plant efficiency.

• Liaising with relevant personnel to arrange assistance regarding resources required (both equipment and people) to ensure successful task execution.

• Providing assistance according to own level / area of competence and in accordance with company policies to the Supervisor and co-workers when instructed or during the absence of the responsible person, to ensure achievement of functional objectives.

• Adhering to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.

This role is in the Engineering(AS&R – General Engineering Services) department at a Band J4.2  level reporting to theSupervisor

• Grade 12 / N3
• Trade Certificate:  Boilermaker
• Driver’s Licence

Experience:

• 2 Years’ operational maintenance experience as a Boilermaker
