IETI ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICESHIP
Purpose
The purpose of this qualification is to train and prepare learners to work within the Electrical Industry which ranges from Domestic Installations, small commercial installations, Office block, supermarkets and shopping centres, accommodation units and the industrial side of the industry which deals with factory installations and they will gain valuable experience in this industry to qualify as an electrical artisan. The electrician Installs, tests, connects, commissions, maintains and alter/repair electrical equipment, wiring and control system within this industry.
Course Overview
The learners will attend institutionalised training at our centres which are situated in Cape Town, Kya Sands and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The course is broken up into three sessions of 8 weeks per year over a period of three years. In year 1 they will focus on Hand skills and tools, the introduction to electricity, wire ways, cables and wiring of Premises.
In year 2 they focus on transformers, basic motors and starters Single and Three Phase, and Electronics.
Then in year 3 they will focus on more Advanced Motors and Starters, DC Motors, Fault-finding Commissioning of circuits and Programmable Logic controllers.
