We are seeking a reliable and skilled Diesel Mechanic Assistant to support our maintenance team in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet and diesel-powered machinery. This role involves assisting in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of diesel engines and related equipment used in the FMCG industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in Diesel Engine Maintenance: Support senior mechanics in routine maintenance and servicing of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Help diagnose mechanical issues and assist with repairs and replacements of faulty engine parts, exhaust systems, transmissions, and other components.
- Inspection & Testing: Perform basic inspections on diesel engines and equipment to ensure functionality and safety standards are met.
- Parts & Equipment Management: Help in ordering, organizing, and maintaining a stock of diesel engine parts, tools, and supplies.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, parts used, and equipment performance.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards during all maintenance tasks.
- Operational Support: Provide assistance with maintaining fleet schedules, ensuring all vehicles are operational and meeting FMCG distribution needs.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical diploma or vocational training in Diesel Mechanics or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in diesel engine maintenance, preferably in the FMCG, logistics, or automotive industry.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of diesel engines, troubleshooting, and repair methods.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various environmental conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in inspections, repairs, and record-keeping.
- Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Safety-Oriented: Knowledge of safety procedures and standards relevant to mechanical work
