Introduction
We are looking for a reliable and efficient Van Assistant to support our delivery team. The ideal candidate will assist with loading and unloading goods, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the van. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in loading and unloading goods from the truck at designated locations.
- Ensure that all items are properly secured and protected during transit.
- Support drivers in route planning and delivery coordination.
- Assist in navigating to delivery locations as directed.
- Check delivery documentation and confirm that all items are delivered accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients at delivery points.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the van.
- Report any vehicle maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Assist with inventory management and stock organization when necessary.
- Handle returns or exchanges of goods as instructed.
- Follow all health, safety, and driving regulations.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Valid driver’s license (preferred, but not always necessary).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to [X] lbs/kgs).
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of routes and geography (local area knowledge is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Previous experience in a delivery or logistics role (preferred).
- A professional, friendly, and customer-focused attitude.
- Matric/Grade12
- Clean criminal record
- Must have contactable references
