Teacher assistant and general school assistant

The South African Department of Basic Education is excited to announce the launch of job opportunities for youth starting from June 2025. The program aims to provide youth with valuable work experience and contribute to the development of education across the country. These positions will run from June to November 2025. Applications for these roles will be open from April 22, 2025, and can be submitted through the official portal.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 34 years of age.
  • Youth must be South African citizens.
  • A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Applicants must be enthusiastic about education and working with children.

 

  • Basic computer skills are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a teaching or school environment is an advantage.

Duties:

  • Assisting teachers in classroom activities, including managing students and supporting teaching materials.
  • Helping with administrative tasks like grading and preparing resources.
  • Providing one-on-one or group assistance to students who need extra help.
  • Monitoring students’ progress and providing feedback to teachers.
  • Ensuring that the classroom environment is safe and conducive to learning.

  • Adhering to confidentiality regarding student and school information.
  • Demonstrating integrity and responsibility in all interactions.
  • Showing commitment and punctuality in daily tasks.
