Purpose of the job
– The Engineering Assistant provides a pool of support of multidiscipline engineering, technical skills and is required to support all the Engineering Foreman/Artisan to whom the individual is allocated to perform low complexity high volume work.
Work of a role
• Accompany Artisan when inspecting and completing tasks
• Ensure that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
• Ensure tool availability
• General labour support, multi – discipline
• Help operational employees to maintain equipment in area of responsibility
• Loading, dispatching material and equipment to work sites
• Material and workshop machinery and equipment control
• Provides assistance to all trades (Artisans) with activities within and without the team
• Use of engineering tools
QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12 Maths and Science
• Engineering Assistant Certificate of Competency
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Advantageous semi-skilled with various certificate skills engineering
• Communication in english
