Sappi Junior Electrical Technician

We’re looking for a skilled and passionate Junior Electrical Technician to join our Electrical Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, calibrate, and optimise all plant electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment (hardware and software).
• Troubleshoot complex plant issues beyond artisan and foreman expertise to minimise downtime using specialised tools and techniques.
• Perform fault finding and repairs up to card level; investigate causes and recommend effective, economical solutions.
• Plan and execute preventative and improvement tasks in coordination with maintenance teams or contractors.
• Inspect and commission plant modifications, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and updating documentation.
• Research and implement plant improvements, staying updated with technological advancements and providing training to staff.
• Submit accurate technical documentation, reports, scopes of work, and training materials for use by technicians, engineers, artisans, and foremen.
• Uphold safety, health, and environmental standards in line with statutory requirements, and perform standby duties as per mill procedures.

Key Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a heavy industry environment, or Completion of a TIT or EIT program with a duration of 2 years.
• National Diploma (NQF6) or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• SAP knowledge would be advantageous.
