ABOUT ESKOM

Fitter and Turner internship at milltrans

Eskom produces more than 90% of the energy used by various customers in South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region utilizing natural resources such coal, nuclear power, gasoline, diesel, water, and wind.

The electrical system must be maintained at a frequency of 50Hz in order for the System Operator (who will eventually be known as the Independent Transmission and System Market Operator, or ITSMO, as the Transmission business remains legally separated) to be able to balance energy supply and demand in real time.

One of the few vertically integrated utilities still in operation, Eskom is connected to the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) by means of an interconnected system, which supports grid stability. Eskom depends on SADC participants to keep up
