Brief Description
The main purpose of this position is to install and maintain electronics-related components to optimise the building systems at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
Detailed Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Take part in immediate planning.
Work autonomously while adhering to clear work requirements.
Recognize, assess, and resolve well-defined, commonplace, and technical problems in the pertinent context.
Carry out fault-finding for electronics-related equipment and subsystems, as well as first-line preventative and corrective maintenance, to identify component failure.
Test all work and close out job cards (work orders) relevant to electronics repair and project work.
Read work instructions and basic drawings addressing building, changes and modifications, regular maintenance and operational projects in the electronics and associated environment.
To adhere to safety and health criteria, use SANS (South African National Standards) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards.
Do basic quality control checks on the work produced by outside service providers to ensure compliance with the established specifications and/or industry standards, and notify the supervisor of any potential non-conformance.
Create and submit daily reports that highlight work performed and potential trouble spots using a common template (job cards and a non-conformance reporting template).
Positively interact with stakeholders and clients, including responding to their concerns and praises.
While working with outside service providers, abide by the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standard within SARB and enforce compliance.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
· a matric/grade 12 certificate;
· a relevant N4 qualification or higher;
· a National Trade Test certificatein electronics or electronic and security systems;
· at least 3–5 years’ experience in an electronic engineering environment;
· a valid driver’s licence; and
· accommodation within 30–60 minutes away from site to be able to tend to emergency call-outs while on standby duties.
Additional requirements include:
knowledge and proficiency in:
planning and engineering;
infrastructure, engineering, and reporting;
engineering, information management, and facilities;
English communication abilities, both written and spoken;
computer literacy, or functioning familiarity with the Microsoft Office package;
the capacity for extra hours and standby labor as necessary; and
possess a vehicle.
