Bokoni Platinum Mine is an ARM owned mining operation situated on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex. This operation is planned to produce circa 400,000 oz per annum. Its project plan includes the construction of new decline shafts with combined capacity of 240,000 tons per month, a new concentrator plant, tailings storage facility and associated surface and underground infrastructure.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Artisan Aide Fitter.
The position will be based at Bokoni Platinum Mine at Atok (Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo.
Artisan Aide Fitter (B4)
Purpose of the Job: Assist the Foreman and Artisan and deliver quality work output in the day-to-day work activities within the relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
Job Requirements:
Job Responsibilities (will include the following but not limited to):
• Grade 12
• N2 Mechanical Certificate
• Generic Engineering course or Level 2 Aide course
• Literacy in English
• At least 2 years’ experience as an Artisan Assistant in a Mining Environment. • Conduct daily inspections to ensure the safe and effective operation of machinery and equipment
• Ensure the safe and effective handling of all Engineering machinery and equipment
• General housekeeping in area of responsibility
• Maintain hand and power driven tools • Conduct lubricating tasks i.e. moving and rotating parts
• Use hand tools (hammers, chisels, spanners, power tools, mechanic power saw etc.
• Install and secure pipe lines
• Perform tasks on elevated areas or structures
• Operate lifting equipment
• Dismantle or assemble equipment (pumps, rock drills etc.) if trained and licenced
• Remove tight fitting sleeves, bushes, coupling from shafts of casing by means of pullers or presses tensioning of belt winches etc.
• Manhandle heavy materials
• Perform maintenance tasks on sewage treatment plants
• Maintain mechanical equipment
• Operate stationery drilling machines
• Assembling & dismantling of tips and transfer chutes.
• Ad Hoc duties without supervision
• Transportation of conveyor belts from surface to underground
