Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Junior Technicians with electrical and/or mechanical experience to join our growing team. The successful candidates will assist in the conversion of forklifts and other equipment, working under the guidance of senior technicians. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute and develop technical skills in a specialized field within a safety-critical industry.
Key Responsibilities Required :
- Assist senior technicians in the disassembly, modification, and reassembly of forklifts and other industrial equipment.
- Perform basic electrical wiring, component installation, and testing.
- Assist with mechanical repairs and maintenance, including component replacement and adjustments.
- Follow technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and standards related to explosion-proof conversions.
- Conduct basic quality checks and document work performed.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of parts.
- Assist with basic fault finding.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) is essential.
- Technical qualification (N1-N3, Trade Test, or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is highly advantageous.
- Basic understanding and aptitude for electrical and/or mechanical principles.
- Hands-on experience and competence with tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- The ability to produce technical drawings by hand or CAD would be a strong advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn in a unique industry.
- Valid South African driver’s license and transport to and from work is essential.
- Experience with either motor vehicles, forklifts, trucks or similar heavy machinery is required.
