are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Electrical Assistant to join a fast-moving 2-man team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, thrives in different environments, and can think on their feet.
You will not be stationed at one site. Each day may bring a new location and a new challenge. Speed, adaptability, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Because you will form part of a dedicated maintenance team, you must live in Retreat, Bergvliet, Diep River, or Plumstead to ensure rapid response for emergency call-outs after hours. Availability for after-hours emergencies is a requirement of the role.
What You Need
-At least 4 months’ on-the-job experience with an electrical contracting company
-Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour
-Your own tools and the ability to use them safely and correctly
You’ll need the following tools as a minimum:
-Insulated screwdrivers
-Insulated pliers
-Insulated longnose pliers
-Insulated side cutters
-Small level
-Stanley knife
-Small hacksaw and hacksaw handle
-Claw hammer
-Allen keys
-250mm shifting spanner
What You’ll Be Doing
-Digging trenches, planting poles, and laying cables
-Chasing and cutting walls and concrete floors for conduit
-Loading and unloading materials
-Stripping out redundant installations and equipment (once supply cables are removed)
-Installing and fixing flush and surface-mounted wireways
-Assisting with PV support structures and related equipment
-Assisting with erecting and connecting luminaires and PV panels
-Operating a trenching machine once trained
-Supporting colleagues to ensure jobs are completed safely and efficiently
-Maintaining clean and organised office and workshop areas
