Responsibility & Tasks
OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
to provide industrial operations with mechanical assistance so that equipment downtime is maintained to a bare minimum.
Educational:
Grade 12 / Matric (minimum)
Trade Test for Qualified Artisan (N3)
a thorough knowledge of the standards for quality in manufacturing
Experience:
Having worked in heavy industry for at least 5 years.

Principal duties and important outcome areas
Maintenance
procedures for daily scheduled maintenance
procedures for daily preventive maintenance
routine checks and early identification of potential equipment breakdowns and excessive wear
coordinating with production and managers to schedule preventive maintenance time
arranging for components to be readily available so that routine preventative maintenance may be performed
Equipment diagnostic and repairs
Identify the primary reason for equipment failure
Make plans to address the failure’s root cause.
Repair any damage as soon as possible to make it as good as new.
Report on the steps done and keep track of downtime
Obtain manufacturing process approval of the equipment operating state and ensure equipment correct operation as a result of the action done.

Whenever necessary, assist with operator training
Plan modifications to manufacturing runs and promptly inform production of your plans.
Recognize and discuss production issues that are not yet visible with production, give advice as necessary, and inform the maintenance supervisor in writing.
