ABOUT THE POSITION
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
NQF Level 4 and Grade 12 are required.
A recognized relevant Trade qualification (Section 13 or 26D) is required OR evidence of a recognized apprenticeship successfully completed (completed by means of effluxion of time).
AND NTC 2 (important four topics), which is necessary.
It is crucial to have passed the MQA Medium Voltage Skills Modules.
A minimum of five years of professional experience as an artist is required.
valid driver’s license with code B (essential and be able to attend to callouts).
To receive such a certificate, you must be in good health or have a valid red ticket.
The following require a minimum of two years’ experience:
Installation, termination, fault-finding, and maintenance of MV (33 kV & 6.6 kV) cables
MV electrical network construction, installation, operation, and maintenance, including switchgear
maintenance of substations
MV testing apparatus
Upkeep and fixes for overhead cranes
COMPETENCIES:
Must be willing and able to work at heights.
The following will be advantageous:
Computer literacy
VSD and soft starters knowledge
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
carry out routine substation maintenance as directed.
Plan and organize all necessary spare parts for the electrical maintenance.
Examine, maintain, troubleshoot, and keep track of the status of medium-voltage networks and associated equipment.
equipment installation and upkeep for MV and LV.
Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
Maintain strong standards for managing SHEQ
