Company Description:

We have an exciting position for an Engineering Assistant who will be responsible to provide a pool of support of multi discipline engineering, technical skills and is required to support all the Engineering Foreman/Artisan to whom the individual is allocated to perform low complexity high volume work. This is a fixed term role.

Job Description:

Key tasks of the role are:

  • Good house keeping
  • Cleaning & painting.
  • Works under direct Supervision and Reports to Artisan
  • Material & workshop machinery & equipment control
  • Use of Engineering tools
  • Loading, dispatching material & equipment to work sites
  • Provides assistance to all trades (Artisans) with activities within and without the team.
  • Ensure tool availability
  • Follow work instructions
  • Ensure proper understanding of the required actions
  • Apply recognized work and safety standards
  • Ensure that members work together as a team while completing tasks
  • Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards
  • Ensure that material is not unnecessarily wasted
  • Ensure that all required tools, material and spares are available to perform tasks
  • Communication to artisans any unexpected problems

This role is at a Band 9 Level, reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 Maths and Science.
  • Internal – IDC to develop individual through ABET, NCOR, NTC2
  • Boilermaker Trade certificate will be advantageous

Important: applications without qualification related attachments and certificates related to the role will NOT be considered

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 month relevant experience in engineering
  • Advantageous Semi skilled with various certificate skills engineering
  • Communication in English
