fraser Alexander Artisan Assistant (Gauteng)

PURPOSE

This role exists to assist Artisans (Boilermaker / Fitter / Millwright / Diesel Mechanic) to whom they are allocated to with daily maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance

• Support the Artisan in participating and executing predictive and preventive maintenance activities.
• Assist Artisan in documenting maintenance work in the designated database.
• Assist the Artisan in repairing and assembling various types of machines and equipment.
• Assist the Artisan in stripping various machinery by using various types of tools disassembling components.
• React to breakdowns promptly
• Clean dirty parts and cleaning components as per Artisan instructions.
• Complete tasks per issued job cards.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are accounted for and maintained properly.

Safety

• Ensure conformity to SHEQ standards, policies and procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning of workshop machinery and equipment.
• Ensure safekeeping of tools.

Inspection and Reporting

• Perform daily inspections of all equipment/tools and give feedback.
• Report all faults and problems to Artisan.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 passed with pure Mathematics 50% and Physical Science 50% pass;   or
• Completed N3 Engineering Studies

EXPERIENCE

• Basic hand tools experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, lubrication, mechanical seals, assembly, disassembly, Pump / motor alignment and all activities involved in maintenance, diesel engines
• Willingness to work overtime/weekends as operationally required.
