MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – MECHANICAL FITTING

Are you a TVET College student who has completed your N6 in Mechanical Fitting and is looking for the practical workplace experience and exposure needed to complete your qualification?
IBCO is looking for a hardworking and motivated individual who is eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in our Maintenance Department while working alongside our Maintenance team.
This opportunity is suited to someone who has completed their N6 in Mechanical Fitting at a TVET College and is looking for practical training, workplace exposure or an apprenticeship opportunity.
A stipend will be provided for this opportunity.
Previous work experience is not required. You should have a basic knowledge of tools, understand how they are used, and be comfortable working with machinery and equipment. Experience in a manufacturing or similar environment would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
Requirements
- Completed N6 in Mechanical Fitting at a TVET College
- Looking for practical workplace exposure, practical training or an apprenticeship opportunity
- Basic knowledge of tools and how they are used
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and machinery
- A practical and hands-on approach to work
- Good communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Hard-working and self-motivated
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Safety conscious
- Physically fit and able to work with different tools and materials
- Comfortable working in challenging conditions, confined spaces and at heights
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime and standby when required
- Own transport and driver’s licence would be an advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the Maintenance team with:
- Supporting the Mechanical Fitter with repairs on industrial machines and equipment
- Assisting with the assembly and disassembly of industrial machinery, including presses and other equipment
- Assisting with general welding
- Assisting with routine machine maintenance
- Assisting with identifying and attending to machine faults
- Conducting routine lubrication of machinery
- Assisting with machine inspections
- Assisting with basic electrical maintenance where required
- Assisting with measuring phase voltage, current and earth leakage
- Assisting with replacing components such as contactors, relays, isolators and capacitors under supervision
- General housekeeping of the workshop and work areas
- Following Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Following 5S practices
- Ensuring work is completed properly and on time

We are looking for a TVET College student who is eager to learn, willing to work and looking for the practical experience needed to put their Mechanical Fitting studies into practice.
You do not need years of work experience.
