Job description
The responsibility of the Winder Electrician is to carry out general and specialized winder and related installation maintenance, repairs, and project work. Delivering duties as given, both on time and late, the incumbent ensures overall equipment effectiveness while maintaining safety (OEE). Maintaining the highest levels of safety in the operating and influence areas is a fundamental responsibility of the function.
Minimum Conditions:
Grade 12/N3 or an equivalent degree
MV Switching Certificate and a relevant electrical trade certificate
Insofar as the Minerals Act’s Winding Plant rules are concerned (Chapter 16 of the Minerals Act)
Experience as an electrician for a minimum of seven years, with at least five of those years spent doing winder maintenance on both Blair Multi Rope (BMR) Winders as well as Double and Single Drum Winders and related machinery.
pass a heat tolerance screening test, as well as any other tests that may be necessary to establish the applicant’s readiness for employment, and be deemed medically fit for the work and environment based on a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.

advanced knowledge of instrument installation and winder electrical maintenance
extensive understanding and practical expertise with electrical and winder control systems
Legal inspections of electrical and instrumentation systems expertise that has been proven
A demonstrated history of successful productions
having knowledge of Microsoft Office

- Applying pertinent standards and procedures to the planning and execution of maintenance tasks can help you maintain your own health and the health and safety of your team.
- Conduct inspections in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act rules, manufacturing requirements, and company standards, paying particular attention to the Winding Plant (Chapter 16)
- Follow all legal requirements, health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures, and apply specific instructions to your own work area and job completion to help foster a culture of zero damage.
- To become an effective team member, encourage and build teamwork.
