SAFCOL invites unemployed youth (18 — 35 years of age) to submit applications for the Apprenticeship Programme 2024.

Closing date: 06 November 2023

Location: Learners will be based at Louise Trichardt (Makhado).

Stipend: Learners will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the apprenticeship.

ABOUT SAFCOL

SAFCOL (South African Forestry Company SOC Limited) is a state-owned forestry company in South Africa, under the department of Public Enterprises (DPE), primarily involved in the forestry industry with operations in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, as well as in the southern half (Manica and Sofala provinces) of Mozambique.

Consequently, we support about 20 000 lives through job creation, small business support interventions and through other social upliftment programmes such as the construction of schools, clinics, early childhood development centres and many others.

Through our operations we employ about 5000 people through direct and indirect employment and by extension, are responsible for about 20 000 lives in communities adjacent our operations.

ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Applications are invited from unemployed youth who wish to pursue a career as an Artisan.

The suitable candidates will be granted an opportunity to be enrolled at a recognised Training Centre to learn and develop as artisans over a period of three years.

They will do the workplace training at our sawmill Timbadola near Louise Trichardt (Makhado).

Apprenticeship programme consist of the following artisan trade,

Fitter & Turner

Millwright

Electrical

Diesel Mechanic (Motor trade)

Boiler Making

On successful completion of the occupational knowledge, practical and workplace learning, the Skills Development Act requires that apprentices undergo a final summative assessment (Trade test) to be certified as a qualified artisan.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Must be South African Citizen

Must be an unemployed youth between 18 to 35 years old

Must have passed/completed grade 12 (not a prerequisite but recommended)

Must have a minimum of N2 or Level 3 Technical Vocational, Education & Training (TVET) certificate with the relevant trade theory
